Baby Drumhellers heart surgery
Donation protected
My fiance and I just got news that our baby girl has a congenial heart defect. She has Dextro-transposition of the great arteries, which basically means her heart is pumping the blood the wrong way. Her pulmonary artery and aorta are switched and connected in the opposite spots. There is also a small hole in her heart which is actually a good thing meaning the oxygenated and unoxygenated blood can mix.
She is fine while in utero, but once she is born she will need medications right away to keep the hole in her heart open and will need open heart surgery within the first week of life. She will be in the nicu for the first 3-4 weeks of her life. Anything donated will be used for medical expenses and hospital stays. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
