For as long as either us can remember, we have dreamt of becoming parents. After a six year struggle with infertility, lots of prayers and just as many tears, we are excited to announce that we have decided to expand our family through adoption!
For the majority of 2020, we have spent our free time interviewing adoption agencies, filling out stacks of paperwork, completing several homestudy interviews, ordering background checks, completing fingerprint cards, attending adoption classes, and the list goes on and on.
While the road wasn't an easy one, we have found more peace in the past year of our adoption journey than we have in the past six years of infertiliy. Now that we have dotted our i's and crossed our t's, we are happy to say that we are officially waiting to be matched with the child that we have prayed for for so long.
Unfortunately, along with the unsurpassed peace of knowing that we will eventually be matched with our child, comes a financial burden that very few people know or speak of. In fact, the cost to adopt an infant in the United States averages about $43,000/adoption.
While we are anticipating that our adoption will cost somewhere between $30,000-$40,000, this cost still seems like an Everest-sized amount to our family (especially considering that we have always hoped to have more than one child).
Over the years, we have had a countless numbers of friends, family and aquaintances comment on what great parents we would be and just as many people who have suggested that we consider adoption. Now, as we are eagerly waiting to be matched with a child, we are hoping that those same people would join us by praying that we would be matched with the child that God has planned for us.
In addition to your prayers, it would mean the world to us if you would consider partnering with us finacially, to help make our family complete. So far, we have spent over $25,000 to get us to this point where our profile is finally starting to be shown to expectant parents/birth families.
Once we are matched, our agency will let us know approximatily how much they expect the rest of the expenses to be. We are told that these expenses typically range between $11,000-$15,000, but they could be more. In addition to this, we will be required to pay for multiple trips to Texas, and at least $3,500 in legal fees to finalize the adoption process.
Your financial assistance would be an incredible blessing to us as we continue this process. It would mean that we could pay to bring our child home without going into debt. It would mean less of a burden to our soon to be family of three as we begin life with a little one, and it would mean a greater possibilty of us being able to adopt a second child down the road.
Whether you give or not, we thank you from the depths of our hearts for taking the time to learn about our story. Please know that we covet your prayers as we continue on this journey.
Also, if you know of a possible adoption situation, please keep us in mind and let us know. Our homestudy is officially complete and would be happy to meet or speak with any expectant parents who are looking to place their child for adoption.
Thank you again for all your prayers and support!
Sincerely,
Daniel and Lacey Dibble
