Baby Charlie Fights Brain Tumour

Charlie's Story.

My baby nephew Charlie is the happiest little boy you could ever meet, he is football crazy, loves to dance and race his bike. He is the light of our family's life, my sister's only child & my parent's only grandchild. He means the world to all of us.

Charlie was diagnosed with a brain tumour on the 11th March at Royals Berkshire Hospital at just 20 months old. He was then rushed to John Radcliffe Children's Hospital and subsequently underwent brain surgery lasting over 7 hours. The neurosurgical team did an incredible job in removing virtually all the tumour however, it was too risky to remove the 1mm which was located on his spinal cord.

As you can imagine throughout this time it was essential that my sister and brother in law were with him 24/7, unfortunately there was no rooms free at Ronald McDonald house (free accommodation) over a thousand pound was spent on accommodation and travel expenses because of this.

We were told the risks associated with brain surgery but fortunately Charlie only developed a squint which can be fixed surgically at a later date, his balance was also affected but this is improving every day. We were delighted and very excited when they said Charlie could come home for a few days before starting his Chemotherapy, sadly he developed a temperature and a cold which meant his admission was postponed, he has since tested positive for COVID-19 on the 3rd April. Which in it's self is massively worrying and it has delayed the start of his treatment further.

All being well Charlie will be admitted on the 9th April when he will be put to sleep to undergo a lumbar puncture to check for cancer cells in his spinal fluid and then to have his PICC line fitted. Charlie will then start intensive Chemotherapy which will last a period of approximately six months.

Why we need your help.

For the duration of his treatment he will be an impatient at John Radcliffe Children's Hospital. Unfortunately due to the current COVID-19 situation the fantastic charity which provide accommodation (CLIC Sargent) have been closed. Leaving many families who desperately want to be with their children with a massive dilemma including my sister & brother in law.

So we're hoping to raise funds to cover the costs of accommodation, travel & living expenses over the next six months so Mummy & Daddy can be there to support Charlie throughout these tough times.

As you can imagine all of their focus is on Charlie but as a family we know this is going to effect them financially in a massive way.

What your donation will mean.

I know that your support will mean the world to my sister, brother in law and my best friend Charlie. Anything you can spare would be massively appreciated! Please help take away the worry and stress of money troubles so they can focus on caring for their beautiful little man <3 x
