Hello friends! I’m starting this fundraiser to offer support to my little niece Bonnie who has been diagnosed with plagiocephaly. This requires a orthotic helmet or head brace to help support an improved shape and space for her little brain and skull.
Just a little interruption UPDATE before you read the main information…
A HUGE thankyou for the outpouring of love, donations, sharing our plea and well wishes, it’s been lovely to hear from those we haven’t in a while, life gets busy but it seems support never waivers!
We’ve raised enough for the deposit which is just unbelievable and now to power ahead (yep, couldn’t resist) towards the full kit and journey ahead (again! I’m sorry!) and travel etc etc…
Right back to the business of Bonnie… continue to read below.
We are beyond relieved that this was not a life threatening condition but it is classed as a cosmetic condition, and therefore is not available for free on the NHS.
Bonnie is going to have her little head brace up until 18 months and will potentially require two in this time.
So I wanted to gather up my friends to see if we could ease this financial situation a little by giving the cost of our coffee, or making this your charitable donation for the month.
I would do a bake sale, but all that know me, know that isn’t a good idea.. though I did once win Most Moist Sponge… there’s a secret behind this one.
I would invite you all over for cocktails but you’re all so spread out, we would never find the time or location.
So I’m here.. cap in hand (small pun intended!) please donate, if you can.
I don’t want to end with a sob story but, this one is a bit bitter sweet. Bonnie is the youngest of my brother Oliver and sister in law Vickie’s children, sister to Archie.
They have been through ALOT and Oliver is powering through his almost 12th cycle of chemo following a brain tumour. He is unable to drive so my parents are doing alot of hospital trips, so this is for them too. We are all fed up of hospitals and heads/brains but Bonnie deserves this opportunity.
I think I forgot to mention(and if you made it this far, well done) but the head brace is approx £3k.
Also, you’ll note an absence of photos of Bonnie’s little head, they are not mine to share, and besides, her little face is so beautiful why would you want to focus on that!
Here’s to Bonnie and her Bonnie Wee Bonce.
