Bea going to Chapel Hill
Bea on ECMO in Chapel Hill Aug.27
Hi, my name is Stacie Snyder, and I am fundraising for my son and daughter-in-law to help with souring expenses arising from the birth of their premature daughter “Bea” at 28 weeks.
Beatrice Neal was born on May 26, weighing only 2 lbs. 10 oz. She has been in the Vidant NICU for three months and was recently transported by ambulance to the PICU at Chapel Hill. The length of her hospital stay is unknown, but with all of her health complications, it could be another 5-6 months before she can come home.
Our lil’ Bea, she is fighting every day; what a little warrior!!!
She has gone through a great amount of health complications during her time in 3 months (94 days) from BPD (Bronchopulmonary dysplasia, also known as chronic lung disease), ROP stage 3 (Retinopathy of prematurity), NEC x2 (Infection in her bowels). She has had around 30 blood transfusions, 3 bowel resection surgeries, and 2 different surgeries to place her on ECMO (heart/lung bypass) to help her lungs rest. She is currently still on ECMO with plans to trial her off of it this week. Her medical chart is already more extensive than most adults.
She is by far such a little fighter!
This journey for their family has been tremendously challenging. They lost their first son, Ivey, at 20 weeks, and Jay was born at 28 weeks but was able to come home after three months. This has been extremely hard for their family as they are being torn away from their 23-month-old son, Jay.
John Michael and Becky have both tried to continue to bring in as much income as possible as you can imagine traveling 2 1/2 -3 hours to the hospital has caused time off and unexpected expenses such as gas, lodging and food.
Bea looks just like Jay, her big brother. Jay has been FaceTiming his parents and baby sister every day.
No one likes to ask for help; however, I am asking our family, friends and community to help assist this young family.
They would be forever grateful for all your love and support.
If you’d prefer to give money directly to avoid fees, you can send it to their Venmo
