Baby Alora's family needs help

Spende geschützt
March 12th update.....Sarah, Peyton, and Alora were discharged Thursday morning. They are so extremely happy to be back with AJ and their dogs. They have decided to stay in Angus with parents for the duration of Aloras IV antibiotics as she’s had a few issues with her picc line and sick kids is the only place that can trouble shoot any issues with the line. Because she gets a constant drip of antibiotics missing 5 hours of them (the drive from Sudbury to Toronto) would not be an ideal situation. Her multiple upcoming appointments in the next couple weeks will provide us an update on the exact duration Alora needs to be in her harness and on IV antibiotics.
Homecare was unable to provide them with a paediatric nurse so they are driving to Barrie for her picc dressing changed weekly, but thankfully they were able to teach Sarah how to administer the antibiotics at home so they’re not driving to Barrie daily for them to do it in clinic.
They are so extremely thankfully for everyone’s help and the delicious food sent their way and can’t thank everyone enough for supporting their family.
They remain hopeful she’ll heal full circle and not need more surgeries in the future, but only time will tell.
Physiotherapy will most likely begin in the near future as Alora needs to start being able to do things such as sitting, crawling, walking as those are expected to be painful and a little more difficult for her to get the hang of, but thankfully they have access to the best physiotherapist around.

Many people have been asking what happened and how can we help so here's a quick update

On January 30th
Peyton and Sarah welcomed baby Alora Shouldice Medeiros
Hours after her birth Sarah notices something wasn't quite right
She pointed out to the medical professionals that something was wrong with Aloras legs and she had pain.
Her concerns fell on deaf ears day 1 and other appointments following.

At Aloras 2 week appointment Sarah brought it up again. Alora was then sent for an ultrasound and blood work.
But the wait could still be weeks before seeing a specialist.

So Peyton and Sarah packed up their baby and headed to Sick Kids Emergency hospital.
They were taken in right away and several hours later Alora had her first surgery to remove infection that had grown to the point of dislocating her hip.

A few days later the drain tube showed signs of infection so baby Alora under went her second surgery to wash out the hip socket a second time.
Her official diagnosis is septic arthritis of the hip.
She has since had a picc line inserted.
The plan for now is 6 weeks of IV medication as well as regular orthopaedic follow ups for her hip.
She also requires several weeks in her pavlik harness to make sure her hip has reset in the joint properly.

The goal is to teach Peyton and Sarah the basics of the picc line and hopefully home in the next week or two with home care nurses to assist them. Depending on if they can get home care at their house as they just bought their first home in a rural location, they may have to stay in a better location for the nurses to get to them as she will need to be seen a couple times a day throughout the duration of her treatment plan.

It can be challenging for simple tasks like changing and nursing its taking all hands on deck at this time to keep Alora comfortable

Alora has a high chance of growing up her whole life with arthritis in her hip as well as the possibility of stunted growth in her leg due to the damage to the femur. Any assistance you can help them with is appreciated.
