Well it’s that day. The day that I re-live everything. I found her little body, still warm, in the driveway of the men that killed her!
Every moment is freeze framed. Every feeling as everything slid into slow motion. This is the third year since her murder, my beloved Babe. We never would have known if someone had not witnessed it and posted the next morning on Next Door. These two men lied, surprised? I’m not sure. They intentionally ran their truck into my deaf dog, my beloved Babe. What ensued was catching the county deputies, that were supposed to help and advocate for us in a shall we say, untruth. I mean why not, it’s a fairly rural community and she was just a Pitty. They never saw me coming. Enter Hollister Police Animal Care & Services They were the ONLY people that brought these guys to task. They brought them both in, literally made them come in. The two deputies, who are giant and scary They are not working there anymore because of the budget cuts and of course the animal side of local government always gets the whack job. We are still in touch, they are my heroes. Whenever I see them I still hug them and cry tears of gratitude. The rest of the story? Well, we established Babe’s Fund which is now a non-profit 501c3, working only with Hollister Police and Animal Care Services and Red Dog Ranch Animal Rescue , we have been able to assist in the medical intervention and rescue of over 60 dogs. So here I am again, hat in hand, asking for money to continue my beloved Babe’s legacy, pay forward what Hollister Police and Animal Services has given us and be of service in our little way to our community. One blessed soul at a time. Your donation to Babe’s Fund keeps her legacy alive and helps us continue partnering with the heroes at Hollister Police and Animal Services who fight for the ones who have no voice.
