Hi everyone! I’d like to welcome to the world my beautiful baby granddaughter Alice. She was born on January 26th, 2024, at only 24 ½ weeks days gestation. Kim had come to the clinic on the 23rd for a routine ultrasound, but the image showed that baby Alice had no amniotic fluid -- so Mom was immediately admitted to start on steroids, to help baby Alice’s lungs grow, because she was so premature. Unfortunately, three days later, due to her decreased heart rate, Alice had to be delivered by emergency c-section.

From the start, Alice has been a fighter. She was born at a tiny 480 gm (1lbs 3oz), but we could tell right away that she was so strong! Always wiggling and moving – and she was also very particular, not liking the oscillator ventilator and preferring the jet ventilator. But she has amazed us every day, as she meets her preemie milestones one after another, like opening her eyes, stabilizing her O2 blood saturation, and steadily gaining weight.

But we know Alice has a long road ahead. NICU babies are generally discharged around their due date, which for Alice was May 13th. That means we expect her to spend about 108 days in the NICU.

From the start, Alice has received prayers from around the world – from her Grandparents in Norway and Dayton, to friends and family across Europe, Texas and the rest of the USA. This has been such a blessing for her, and for us as a family, as we all try to support her and her Mom and Dad (Taylor and Kim) as best we can.

Now we ask for all your continued prayers on this path, and any financial support that you can offer. Your contributions will help pay Alice's medical bills during and after her NICU stay. Taylor and Kim have insurance, but already they’re seeing significant out-of-pocket expenses. We appreciate any donation you’re able to make.
