A Mountain for Every 100 Years!
This year, to celebrate Furley Page’s 300th anniversary, the Furley Page Foundation are attempting to raise as much money as possible for the incredible local charity, Pilgrims Hospices. Each year Furley Page choose a worthwhile local charity to support, but for this significant birthday milestone we will certainly be going the extra mile for Pilgrims Hospices!
Pilgrims Hospices is a vital charity that provides end of life care and support for individuals across East Kent who are facing the last year of life. They offer a full range of services including well-being and bereavement support, symptom management and practical assistance to anyone in East Kent with a life limiting condition. This is so important as it gives those with life limiting illnesses, together with their family and friends, the support and empowerment they need at such a difficult time.
Pilgrims Hospices services are free of charge and, with only approximately 20% of funding coming from the government, they rely heavily on the generosity of people from the local community so they can continue to help over 4,000 patients each year.
To do our bit, this year on 14th June Tom and I will be swapping our suits for hiking boots. After many months of subtle hinting, working it's way up to (what can only be described as) persistent badgering, I have convinced Tom that it is a fantastic idea to climb the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon)… a mountain for every 100 of Furley Page's years! The aim is to complete this 3 peaks challenge (which Tom has reminded me on a regular basis is a total ascent of over 3000 meters, and a distance of over 23 miles) in just 24 hours… eek!
Whilst this will be an incredibly difficult and exhausting challenge, Tom and I are extremely passionate about this cause and so are hoping to raise £3,000 for Pilgrims Hospices on behalf of the Furley Page Foundation.
Please, please, please donate and share this page to support Pilgrims Hospices. Each donation, however big or small, will help make a huge difference!
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
