HELP KEEP THEATER AND THE ARTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOL!
On Friday May 6, 2016 Walgrove students will be participating in our 6th Annual Walk & Dance-A-Thon to raise funds to support the amazing THEATER PROGRAMS at Walgrove Elementary, a neighborhood public school.
** Our 3-year corporate grant expires this year so we need to raise an extra $30,000 to keep our programs for next year!
We have an IN-SCHOOL theater program (PS Arts with Mr. Donzell www.psarts.org ). Currently, every child has theater class once (or twice) a week and classroom lessons are reinforced through the arts.
*This program was specifically designed to integrate and mainstream our large special-needs population (over 20%) and has been a huge success.
*This year, our 3rd graders researched, wrote, and performed a 45-minute acting and dance show called "Legends of Equality" to celebrate African-American and Women's History months.) Learning history through performance is learning made fun.
We also have an AFTER-SCHOOL program (Musical Theater Workshop with Ms. Kelly.) Here children learn to dance, sing, and act with the culmination of a full-length musical performance. This May, the children will be performing "Once on this Island".
Both programs are FREE FOR EVERYONE, because we believe theater and the arts are important for the whole child’s learning.
As a friend to the Walgrove community, we hope you might support this event.
Thank you.
**All donations are tax deductible.
