My magical birthday is here: 33 on 3/3. What a beautiful blessing!

This is my 20th birthday without my mother and I really owe it to her and all of my other angels on this earth that helped me make it this far. The road from 13 to 33 without both of my parents has been quite the ride. I had to grow up very fast to say the least. I learned early on how quickly life can change. I'll never forget the
dark days when I didn't think I could make it through but somehow, I did. Here I am making another beautiful trip around the sun. I feel so incredibly blessed to be alive. I'm proud beyond measure of the woman I am and yet to become. My mother raised me to always think of others so I can't think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than to be able to share this light with children that are facing the same situation my siblings and I
faced on October 1, 2001.

With your help, we will be providing displaced children with mental health services and other therapy they
need to deal with traumas and difficulties they face. My siblings and I didn't have this but I wish we did. The
organization I have selected offers a full range of compassionate, culturally competent mental
health services to children (0-17) and transitional age youth (TAY), ages 18-26. Their cutting-edge individual, group and family behavioral health care addresses a wide range of childhood behavior and emotional
challenges, traumas and community case management needs.

They're a leading provider in the community of trauma-focused practices. Trauma, in many cases, is the
common thread impacting families. Some children have been abused and neglected, while others have stood by and helplessly witnessed the abuse of others. Homelessness, violence and substance abuse also
traumatize young minds and can tear families apart.

Incorporating Individual and Family strengths promotes a holistic planning process that supports children
where they are and where they’re comfortable, be it at the schools, in the community, in their homes.
