My name is Lina, and I am writing to you today with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my niece, Valentina.

On July 6th, 2024, Valentina’s life changed in an instant following a devastating traffic accident. She suffered an extremely complex fracture that has since turned into a long, painful medical nightmare. While her initial surgery seemed successful, her body tragically began to reject the surgical hardware (platinum) in her foot. This triggered a severe, aggressive infection that has not stopped since.

To date, Valentina has endured 10 agonizing surgeries. This includes a plastic surgery procedure where a portion of her leg was used to cover the wounds left by the infection. Despite every effort, the infection persisted, forcing doctors to remove the hardware entirely. Today, her foot remains fractured and unstable. She cannot walk, and the pain she suffers every single day is truly unbearable. Valentina desperately needs one final surgery to install external fixators. In Colombia, we have hit a dead end with the health system (EPS). Despite filing legal injunctions (tutelas) and exhausted every resource, the response we receive is that the system is "bankrupt."

We cannot wait any longer. Time is our greatest enemy. If we do not perform this surgery immediately, Valentina faces the imminent risk of amputation.

We have consulted a private orthopedic specialist who can save her leg. The cost for this life-changing procedure is between 60 and 80 million Colombian Pesos (approximately $15,000 - $20,000 USD), depending on potential complications.

We are launching this fundraiser with one singular goal: to make this Valentina's final surgery. We want her to reclaim her life, to live without pain, and to walk again.

Hola mi nombre es Lina y soy tía de Valentina, estoy recaudando fondos para lo que esperamos sea su última cirugía.

valentina tuvo un accidente de tránsito el 6 de julio del 2024, una fractura muy compleja dijeron los médicos, la cirugía en ese momento salió bien pero su cuerpo empezó a rechazar el platino de su pie, lo que desató una infección muy grave y empezaron las cirugías para intentar eliminar la infección, 10 cirugías hasta el día de hoy, incluyendo una cirugía plástica donde quitaron parte de su pierna para poder cubrir hueco donde se veía el platino, nunca se detuvo la infección, así que los médicos decidieron retirar el platino y su pie quedó fracturado, ella necesita una última cirugía para poner los fijadores externos, el problema, la EPS (Colombia) no quiere hacer la cirugía, se interpusieron tutelas y nada ha funcionado, la respuesta de la EPS ( estamos quebrados) Valentina no puede caminar, el dolor que sufre día a día es insoportable para ella, y lo peor de todo si no se realiza esta cirugía podría sufrir una amputación, así que se consultó un ortopedista de manera particular para saber qué costo tiene esta cirugía, respuesta del médico (entre 60 y 80 millones de pesos colombianos) este valor varía si surge alguna complicación, así que este el Gran motivo de esta recaudación, lograr reunir este dinero para la cirugía que tanto necesita VALENTINA.
