This fundraiser exists for one simple and deeply human reason:
to fulfill exactly what these children wrote in their letters.
These are 19 real children from a Kumeyaay Indigenous community in the mountains. Children with real names, real handwriting, and real effort behind every word. This year, they accomplished something meaningful: they attended school consistently enough to learn how to write their first letters.
For many of them, getting to school is not easy. Homes are far apart, transportation is limited, and the journey itself takes commitment. Still, they showed up. They learned. And they wrote.
In their letters, they asked for simple things — warm boots, a sweater, a ball, a book.
Nothing extravagant. Nothing excessive.
For most of us, these are small purchases. For them, they represent something far greater: being seen, being valued, and knowing that their effort matters.
How the funds will be used
• To purchase exactly what each child asked for in their letter
• To give them a gift that is not charity, but recognition for discipline, effort, and commitment to learning
• To show them that when a child works hard, the world responds
Why this matters
In everyday life, we often take warm clothing, school supplies, and small comforts for granted. For these children, receiving what they asked for becomes a lasting reminder that education is worth it, that their voice matters, and that kindness still exists.
This fundraiser may not change the whole world —
but it will change the world of a child.
And if life — or God — places the opportunity to help directly in front of us, perhaps it’s because we are meant to be the answer someone else hoped for.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving.
