Hello, my name is Patricia Rodriguez, she is my oldest daughter Patricia Medina, a strong, hardworking, dreamy woman, full of plans and projects for her life, she has a son of only 8 years old who needs her, exactly 9 years ago she was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure during her pregnancy with her only child.

Desde el inicio, conocer ese diagnóstico fue un shock para ella pues no entendía como una bendición tan grande como su hijo que tanto deseo viniera a su vida acompañado de una noticia tan triste, aun así, ella decidió afrontarlo con fortaleza, y se ha mantenido monitoreada con exámenes cada 2 y 4 meses para ir conociendo el avance de la enfermedad.

From the beginning, learning of this diagnosis was a shock for her because she did not understand how such a great blessing as her son, that so much desire would come into her life accompanied by such sad news, could be such a great blessing. Even so, she decided to face it with strength, and has been monitored with tests every 2 and 4 months to know the progress of the disease.

Lamentablemente, recientemente, solicito un certificado medico y se dio cuenta que después de 9 años su enfermedad avanzo y se encuentra a un paso de la diálisis, lo cual es inesperado para ella pues sus 2 abuelitos pasaron por la enfermedad y ella le teme mucho a esa etapa ya que en Guatemala donde ella vive, la lista de espera para un transplante es interminable.

Unfortunately, she recently requested a medical certificate and realized that after 9 years her illness had progressed and she was one step away from dialysis, which was unexpected for her since both of her grandparents had suffered from the illness and she was very afraid of that stage, since in Guatemala, where she lives, the waiting list for a transplant was endless.

Para ella es una situación muy difícil pues piensa en su hijo a quien ama y desea con todas sus fuerzas verlo crecer y convertirse en un hombre de bien, quiere soñar con un futuro a su lado rodeada de su familia, quienes constantemente la alentamos, es por eso que acudió con un médico que nos dio una esperanza de vida con un tratamiento de células madre, con las que sus riñones pueden recuperar su funcionalidad pero es muy caro, para ella el costo es inalcanzable, y demostrando una vez mas su fortaleza, no se quiere rendir, no a sus 44 años!

For her it is a very difficult situation because she thinks about her son whom she loves and wishes with all her strength to see him grow and become a good man, she wants to dream of a future by his side surrounded by her family, who constantly encourage her, that is why she went to see a doctor who gave us hope for life with a stem cell treatment, with which her kidneys can recover their functionality but it is very expensive, for her the cost is unattainable, and demonstrating once again her strength, she does not want to give up, not at 44 years old!
