Nanis Mayerli Rodríguez Castañeda de 24 años es una luz en nuestras vidas, nacida en Paz de Ariporo, Casanare. Pero más allá de eso, es una madre dedicada cuyo mayor motor es su hijo pequeño de cinco años. Su sueño era estudiar Trabajo Social en Colombia, pero lamentablemente, las puertas de la desigualdad social y la falta de oportunidades le impidieron alcanzar esa meta aquí. Como madre cabeza de hogar, la necesidad de asegurar un futuro digno para su hijo la llevó a tomar la desgarradora y valiente decisión de buscar opciones fuera de su país.
Fue así como, el 27 de febrero de 2025, Nanis viajó a Ucrania. Allí, en medio de un conflicto que ha desplazado a millones y cobrados miles de vidas, se unió al ejército ucraniano como enfermera de combate, con la promesa de un salario que le permitiría darle una mejor vida a su hijo, la colocó en la línea de fuego de una de las guerras más brutales de nuestra historia.
Desde el 15 de septiembre, el silencio de la guerra ha envuelto a Nanis. La última vez que tuvimos noticias fue a través de una llamada a su hermana Nelly, desde un su alojamiento. Desde entonces, no sabemos nada de ella. No aparece en listas oficiales de desaparecidos, retenidos o fallecidos, y la información que hemos recibido de sus comandantes y compañeros ha sido confusa, cambiante e insuficiente.
Nuestra familia ha buscado incansablemente a Nanis a través de la Cancillería, ONGs, medios de comunicación nacionales y autoridades, pero la verdad sobre su paradero sigue siendo un misterio. Incluso, nuestra insistencia nos ha traído amenazas, en un intento de silenciarnos. Pero no podemos ni queremos parar. Su hijo la espera.
¿Para qué necesitamos tu ayuda?
Los fondos recaudados serán vitales para:
- Contratar abogados y expertos en orientación internacionales especializados en búsqueda de personas en zonas de conflicto, que puedan presionar por una investigación clara y obtener respuestas verídicas sobre el paradero de Nanis.
- Cubrir los costos del viaje que se tiene programado para el mes de octubre para que uno de los miembros de la familia pueda buscarla o identificarla si fuera necesario, así como para una posible repatriación si se diera el lamentable caso.
- Apoyar el sustento al hijo de Nanis mientras seguimos luchando por su regreso.
Cada donación, por pequeña que sea, nos acerca un paso más a encontrar a Nanis y traerla de vuelta a casa, o al menos a obtener la verdad que desesperadamente necesitamos. Nanis Mayerli Rodríguez Castañeda, 24 years old, is a light in our lives, born in Paz de Ariporo, Casanare. But beyond that, she is a devoted mother whose greatest motivation is her five-year-old son. Her dream was to study Social Work in Colombia, but sadly, the doors of social inequality and lack of opportunities prevented her from achieving that goal here. As a single mother, the need to secure a dignified future for her son led her to make the heartbreaking and courageous decision to seek opportunities outside her country.
On February 27, 2025, Nanis traveled to Ukraine. There, in the midst of a conflict that has displaced millions and claimed thousands of lives, she joined the Ukrainian army as a combat nurse. The promise of a salary that would allow her to give her son a better life placed her on the frontlines of one of the most brutal wars in our history.
Since September 15, the silence of war has surrounded Nanis. The last time we heard from her was through a phone call to her sister Nelly, from her shelter. Since then, we have had no news. She does not appear on official lists of the missing, detained, or deceased, and the information we have received from her commanders and fellow soldiers has been confusing, inconsistent, and insufficient.
Our family has tirelessly searched for Nanis through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NGOs, national media, and authorities, but the truth about her whereabouts remains a mystery. Our persistence has even brought us threats, an attempt to silence us. But we cannot and will not stop. Her son is waiting for her.
Why do we need your help?
The funds raised will be vital for:
- Hiring lawyers and international experts specialized in the search for missing persons in conflict zones, who can push for a clear investigation and obtain truthful answers about Nanis’ whereabouts.
- Covering the costs of the trip scheduled for October so that a family member can search for her or identify her if necessary, as well as for a possible repatriation should the worst-case scenario occur.
- Supporting Nanis’ son while we continue fighting for her return.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to finding Nanis and bringing her back home, or at least obtaining the truth we so desperately need.
