Ayuda a Blas y Blai a reconstruir su carpintería centenaria

Desde 1883, la carpintería de la familia García en Catarroja ha sido más que un negocio. Es un testigo de esfuerzo y tradición transmitida de generación en generación. Blas García y su hijo, Blai, representan la tercera y cuarta generación de carpinteros que, desde muy jóvenes, aprendieron el oficio de sus mayores, dedicando su vida a la madera, y a la belleza de este trabajo artesanal.

Recientemente, la DANA ha provocado graves inundaciones en la zona, destruyendo tanto la carpintería como sus hogares. La planta baja de Blai y la casa de Blas quedaron totalmente cubiertas por el agua, llevándose consigo años de recuerdos y sacrificio. Además, destruyó sus vehículos y furgonetas, su taller, ampliado hace menos de un año, y el agua ha dejado inservible su maquinaria, incluida una máquina nueva, que aún estaban pagando.

Ahora, el negocio está en riesgo de desaparecer. Sin la carpintería, no solo se pierde un medio de vida para esta familia, sino que desaparece también una de las pocas carpinterías artesanales que quedan. La familia García ha dedicado más de un siglo a sostener esta tradición, y no quieren ver cómo, por una catástrofe natural, el trabajo de toda una vida se desvanece.

Since 1883, the García family’s carpentry shop in Catarroja has been more than just a business. It is a testament to hard work and tradition passed down through generations. Blas García and his son, Blai, represent the third and fourth generations of carpenters who, from a very young age, learned the craft from their elders, dedicating their lives to woodwork and the beauty of this artisanal trade.

Recently, severe flooding caused by the DANA storm devastated the area, destroying both their workshop and their homes. Blai’s ground floor and Blas’s house were completely submerged, taking with them years of memories and sacrifice. Additionally, the flood destroyed their vehicles and work vans, and the water rendered their workshop, which was expanded less than a year ago, unusable. Their machinery, including a new machine they were still paying off, was also ruined.

Now, the business is at risk of disappearing. Without the carpentry shop, not only does this family lose their livelihood, but one of the few remaining artisanal carpentry shops is also at risk of vanishing. The García family has dedicated more than a century to preserving this tradition, and they don’t want to see their life’s work swept away by a natural disaster.

Today, we ask for your help to rebuild this historic carpentry shop and to bring hope back to Blas and Blai.
