Dream Street Summer Camp

For over the past 25 years, I've been volunteering for 1 week every summer at Dream Street.
Dream Street provides camping programs for children with chronic and life threatening illnesses. Children with cancer, blood disorders and other diseases are given the opportunity to enjoy activities they would normally be restricted from due to their illness. For those children who require medicine daily or several times a day, the usual sleep-away camp is not sufficiently sophisticated to handle their medical needs. At Dream Street, volunteer counselors as well as a complete volunteer medical staff are on hand to spend endless hours with any child who needs special help and love.
I've watched our grants dry up and the camp budget shrink over the last several years so I'm making an effort to bring some extra activities to camp. I may not be running a marathon or training for a triathlon but spending 1 week 24/7 with someone elses kids is quite a feat! In all seriousness it is one of the most rewarding weeks of my life and makes such a difference in the lives of so many children!
