Awesome Ambitions Girls Take On Kenya

Awesome Ambitions is planning another Awesome adventure in June 2020. For the first time, we are partnering with the international non-profit organization, Days for Girls. They make re-usable feminine hygiene products for girls in remote areas of the world. Awesome Ambitions has purchased the fabric and have helped Days for Girls in Shawnee sew the kits for girls in Eldoret, Kenya.
We have 20 people (14 girls and 6 adult volunteers) traveling to hand deliver the kits to the girls. In addition to taking reusable famine hygiene kits to 100 girls at the high school in Eldoret, Kenya, our Awesome girls will get to know the Kenyan girls by spending the day at school to see what is taught and learn about the education process in Eldoret. Awesome girls will also visit the home of some of the high school girls to discover what life is like for the teen girls. Finally, we will connect with the community in Kenya by hosting a community culture exchange dinner with Eldoret leaders and some community groups. We’ll enjoy food and music and dance from the Eldoret community. Awesome girls will share songs and poetry and talk about what the experience of traveling to Kenya has meant to them.
Awesome Ambitions girls are already exchanging videos with the Kenyan girls and a bond is already forming which we believe will help our girls embrace people of different cultures and religions the most important lesson is that our Awesome Ambitions girls will realize that they can make a difference in the world!
We want our Awesome Ambitions girls to have an appreciation of other cultures and races and experience the joy of making a positive difference in another person’s life.
The trip will include a 2-day safari. The estimated cost per girl is $3,000 with travel, hotel and food for 10 days. Awesome Ambitions girls will have to contribute $800 to $1,000 and we are asking Awesome Ambitions supporters to make a donation toward a project that will make a positive difference in the lives of girls in Awesome Ambitions in Kansas City and awesome girls in Eldoret, Kenya, near Nairobi.
