My Costa Rica Internship

There are two truths about myself I have always known. The first is that, as comfortable as home may be, I need to see and experience the world. I've always wanted to travel, to meet people different from myself, and immerse myself in a culture that would broaden my horizons. The second is a calling, in my opinion, that every person shares. I was made to help those less fortunate then myself. I was blessed this winter to have been accepted to an internship program which combines both. Through an organization called Student Athletes Abroad (SAA), I will be traveling to Costa Rica to volunteer my time working with children in underprivledged and high social risk societies for the month of June. This incredible opportunity will allow me to work with other student athletes who would otherwise be unable to study or intern abroad due to season competitions or training schedules. Together we can help introduce the beneficial role sports can play in a young childs life along with other components of our program, such as eductional opportunities, psychological and legal support, after-school activities and community development. Before any of this can happen, however, I'll need help. The program itself costs $3000 along with added expenses of flights, a passport, and some meals (only two meals are provided with the program). SAA breaks the cost down into 3 payments, and the second for $700 will be due in MARCH.  Any small donation can go a long way to helping me fund this once in a lifetime opportunity.  I want to thank you for taking the time to read this message and spreading the word of my goal.
