As a senior at the University of Rhode Island, I am leading my third trip to Guatemala through the Alternative Spring Break Program. I will be traveling with a group of students to Panajachel to serve with Habitat International and the local community to alleviate housing insecurity and improve community health. 
From my previous years with  URI Service Corps, I have seen tremendous growth in myself and in the communities we serve.  On my first trip, in the hills of Chimaltenango, I was thrown entirely out of my comfort zone which was an incredibly humbling experience. Seeing the flat plot of land turn into the base for a home after a week of blood, sweat and tears is indescribable. 
The incredible work that Habitat for Humanity International does allows students like us to offer our service to Guatemala. This is why I must raise this money; to allow HFHI to continue such amazing work.  The money that goes to Habitat will provide us with food, housing, and transportation throughout the week.
