First and foremost, thank you for taking a moment to look at this page. This fund was set up in an effort to assist the Caracciolo family as they fight along side their beautiful daughter, Ava, as she continues to battle Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
SMA is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord and impacts the muscles used for activities such as breathing, eating, crawling, and walking. Unfortunately, it is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.
The goal here is simple: to help raise funds that can assist the Caracciolo family in anyway possible. Dom, currently the sole financial provider for the family, has balanced working to earn a living with taking unpaid time off to stay overnight in a hospital, travel to various doctors across the city/state of NY and to be at home during therapy sessions. While Dom works, Crystal spends countless hours everyday assisting doctors as they provide critical therapy to Ava and then continuing that therapy when they leave for her continued success and growth.
Half of all money donated will go directly to support Dom and Crystal as they fight everyday to provide an incredible future for Ava. The other half will go directly to the K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center to aid other families as their young loved ones battle various disorders. This fund raiser is important to many of us, as every child should be given the chance to discover, influence and grow into their own person. This is another opportunity to assist in doing so.
