Hello,
My name is Kyra Brown (they/them) I’m an organizer based out of Minneapolis hoping to get some assistance in purchasing a car.
For my official job I’m an anti-incinerator organizer, but since the uprising in response to MPD murdering another Black person, most of my capacity has been shifted to working with the response to the killing. My job requires that I have a car. I previously had a car but I gifted it to my mother back in December as she needed it more immediately than I did. I have continued making payments on the car because she, like millions of other Americans, is unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
These last couple of weeks have been exceptionally difficult to navigate around the city due to the pandemic as well as the uprising; bus service and ride shares have reduced service significantly. I have saved $1,500 on my own, but while supporting family and community it’s going to take some extra help to be able to afford a reliable car to continue doing this work.
