Saludos,

Greetings!

As many of you know, my son Gabriel had Luna Ginger as his service dog. This dog helped with many of the health situations that Gabriel was diagnosed with when he was 2 years old. Some of the conditions are Non-Verbal Autism, Generalized Epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, and Mixed Developmental Disorder, among others (the complete list is at the end of this message). This little dog was her best friend and companion through thick and thin. Sadly, Luna Ginger passed away last week from various health issues. Although we did everything possible to save her, her body did not respond to her treatment, and she died, leaving a massive void in Gabriel's life.

We don't even know how to explain to a child who can't communicate with words that his best friend is gone. The dog that helped him overcome many daily obstacles, who calmed his anxiety attacks and protected and loved him so much, left this world and will not return. It breaks our hearts to see him looking for Luna's toys to play with and falling asleep in Luna's bed, sitting where she used to hang out, waiting for her to come back and play with him.

Gabriel is a very happy, intelligent, and affectionate boy. He has worked very hard to get to where he is now. He has received occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy. He receives ABA Therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) 5 days a week to help him reach his full potential and learn to live in society. This is why we have decided to get him another puppy, so he can continue to improve.

We are in the process of starting from scratch again, of finding a dog that will "match" with Gabriel. In addition, we have to start "training" again with Gabriel and his new dog. Unfortunately, this is not something our insurance covers. Service animals and their training are expensive. When it comes to getting one through a facility, it will cost anywhere from $17,000 to $35,000. We decided to take a more realistic route. We have contacted several local dog breeders to purchase a dog for an average cost of $3,000 to $3,500 and then give our new service dog the proper training, which is extremely expensive.

This training process and the new puppy are costly, and the entire thing is a long and complicated process to accomplish. This is why we ask for the support of you, our family, friends, and the community. It is a large amount of money that we, unfortunately, cannot pay for ourselves. All funds received will be used to pay the licensed breeder directly for service dog training, initial vet visits, and food and supply needs for the new puppy. Anything you can give will be a great help. No donation is small! Anyone who can help, even with $1.00, will be welcomed, and we will thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Gabriel had early intervention at 2 years old, and after several studies, he was finally diagnosed with the following:
- Non-verbal Autism
- Generalized Epilepsy
- Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome
- Absent Seizures
- Transient Alteration Of Awareness
- Mixed Development Disorder
- Mixed Receptive- Expressive Language Disorder
- ADHD
- Anxiety
