More information about AUTISM NI (Lisburn): We support autistic people and their families in the Lisburn and surrounding area, and campaign for autism acceptance within society. We provide monthly support groups for parents, day trips for members & their families, Christmas party and guest speakers. Those of you that know me will know that this a charity and branch very close to my heart. I first reached out to this group when we received Emma's ASD diagnosis approximately 11 years ago and haven't looked back. I have been a member of the committee for the past ten years and have seen first hand the issues faced by parents waiting for a diagnosis and then constantly having to fight for proper support in schooling once that diagnosis is received. It doesn't stop there, after the school years are over we have to prepare our children to face the big, bad world with an autism diagnosis, which quite often, but not always, brings with it other neurodivergent traits such as ADHD, ADD and anxiety among others. Autism NI provide vital support to those with an ASD diagnosis and their families. Personally I don't know how we would have got this far without them.

On 18 June 2025 I will be taking part in the Lisburn 10k. This will be my first time running this race and since registering for it, I have heard a few things about it which I probably should have checked out before registering lol. But I would just like to show the members of Autism NI how grateful I am for the support they have provided my family over the past 11 years and I would be very grateful if you can help me show that support.
