Autism Families Mourne Wall Challenge

Hi, my name is Colin. I am currently the chairperson of Autism Families Community Support Group. We are based in the Newry/Bessbrook/Camlough Area but we cover all of the Newry, Mourne and Down council area.

I have 13 year old twin girls on the autism spectrum so this type of charity is very close to my heart.

Our charity provides monthly club meetings for our members children. At these clubs we provide many activities, usually sensory based, for our kids. Unfortunately this sensory equipment can be very expensive so our club depends heavily on fund raising to provide for all our members. We also have frequent club outings to various places including days out at the zoo, pantomimes, petting farms, relaxed cinema viewings, and many many more wonderful activities in the surrounding area. These activities are heavily funded by ourselves so it enables many families to have wonderful days out with their children.

Our children can also develop social skills to build and maintain friendships. The group continually strives to raise positive autism awareness, working closely with the wider community.

Please support us as myself and a few friends attempt the grueling Mourne Wall Challenge which covers almost 21 miles and 10,000ft ascent. And please if anyone wants to join us on this amazing trek by all means do.
