My name is Keykey Hudson, and I am a proud Autism mom and the creator of Sevyn's Spectrum of Friends (SSOF). SSOF was created as an outlet for me to connect with other autism parents and find friends for my son Sevyn. Sevyn, my 3-year-old nonverbal autistic son, has faced challenges with overstimulation and fear during outings designed for neurotypical children. Recognizing the need for environments accommodating sensory issues, I began organizing events that cater to autistic and special needs children.
Our most recent event, held on April 27, was a huge success with everything offered for free. The turnout was fantastic, with children leaving with bags of goodies, smiles, and giggles. Parents appreciated a welcoming space where they didn't need to apologize for their children's behaviors, something we do far too often as autism/special needs parents.
Our next event is Sevyn's Spectrum of Friends Autism Acceptance Fashion Show, a fundraiser for future community outreach. With approximately 15 models—half on the spectrum and half walking for loved ones on the spectrum—we aim to raise funds to cover costs such as staff, facility rental, decorations, and participant shirts. This event will be televised, with hopes of expanding next year to gain more resources and independent funding. However, we need help to make this event a success.
Please consider donating, sharing our fundraiser, and informing families with autistic children about our organization and upcoming events. Thank you in advance for your support.
