Austin's ICU medical care and recovery.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I'm fundraising for my child Austin Suhyda. Recently Austin went to the Keys with his friends for spring break. Upon his return to Fort Lauderdale, he did not feel so well and thought he was coming down with a common cold and pink eye. The very next day our neighborhood flooded historically, totaling the family’s vehicles, including Austin's. In the days that followed life changed very quickly. Amid the busy days of flood aftermath, a case of pink eye that was overlooked as harmless manifested itself as a life-threatening case of adenovirus and pneumonia in both lungs. Since Austin has been checked into the Intensive Care Unit on April 18th, 2023 he has been intubated, placed on a ventilator for oxygen, and a chest tube placed to drain an overload of fluid in his lungs. On April 20th he celebrated his 17th birthday from the hospital bed. The next day he was put under a medically induced coma by fentanyl drip and has now been out for 5 days and counting. Since intubation, they have drained over 2.5 liters of fluid from the cavity around his lungs. Please keep our beloved Austin in your hearts and prayers. All donations will go to Austin's medical bills and hospital stay in the ICU. Anything helps. God Bless.
