Hayling Island Community Christmas Day Lunch

As many of us look forward to a day spent with family and friends there are those in our community facing a daunting day alone with only the television as solace.

The Hayling Island Community Christmas Day Lunch provides lonely residents with a much needed welcome alternative. A day full of conversation, companionship, warmth and laughter. Something to truly look forward to and remember with happiness for months to come.

Established in 2014, the lunch initially catered for senior residents and couples where one is the care giver. Now we welcome residents of all ages facing the day alone. Form a handful of guests at our first event, we now pack a hall with as many as 60 people. It’s a free event. Guests can look forward to a lovely 3 course lunch plus all the trimmings, a present from Santa, free tombola, entertainment and transport.

This is a true community event bringing residents together eager to be involved. An army of amazing Islanders, many whom have volunteered time and time again, help with the run up and on the day to ensure our guests enjoy a magical time.

Without a sponsor or guaranteed funding, we rely purely on donations to make the day a reality. Your money prevents the dreadful loneliness and isolation Christmas day can mean to our most vulnerable residents. If you can help, please do. Every penny really does counts.
