Help save Audrey's home; severe flood damage.
Greetings, my name is Bryant Causer.
I am attempting to help raise funds for Audrey Starkey, a current resident in Addison, who suffered great loss during the flash flood on Rt. 417, this past week. Audrey is a current cancer patient, going through chemo, and is now faced with the challenge of rebuilding her life and home after this natural disaster.
As the flood waters encroached and breached 417, Audrey attempted to save what little she could. She was moving her vehicle up the hill and out of harms way. While walking back to her home, she was caught in the flood waters within seconds. Within a minute, what was once a trickle and 1-inch of water, soon became over 3.5 feet of flood surge. Clinging to a nearby railroad utility vehicle for her life, Audrey was stuck there as family members looked on helplessly, until rescue workers were able to locate and save her 1.5 hours later.
The damage caused by this flooding event is extensive.
The front basement wall and foundation for her home was completely washed out. The house is in bad shape and is now supported by temporary emergency shorings. Everything in the basement is a total loss, including: the water tank, filtration system, HVAC, ducting and plumbing. Audrey also operated a small local business out of her detached shed called, A+ Gift Baskets & Crafts, of which the building has been severely damaged. The flood surge shoved the shed into the side of the garage, fracturing the building and displacing it. While the building is salvageable, there was a 95% loss on the merchandise, in addition to the utility connections being severed during displacement. As of this moment, there are no future plans for reopening.
The funds will be used to rebuild her basement foundation, replace the HVAC, water, filtration, plumbing, address any and all structural issues form the house flexing under it's own weight and to restore utility service.
Any donations are appreciated, even if you are only able to spare a dollar.
Thank you for your time and attention.
