Gold Coast Marathon in memory of Audrey Cassidy

On 6th July this year, I will be running the Gold Coast Marathon in memory of my mum, Audrey. My mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour in October 2017 and given a prognosis of 12 months. After an incredibly brave battle she passed away 2 and a half years later on 19th June 2020.

As the Gold Coast marathon takes place just two weeks after her five-year anniversary, it seemed fitting to run it in her memory. I am also raising funds for The Irish Cancer Society, a charity that holds a special place in my heart.

The Irish Cancer Society does incredible work supporting families dealing with cancer across Ireland. They were a tremendous help to us, especially night nurse Hilary, who enabled us to be with our mum the morning she lost her battle.

Being extremely close to my family, living in Sydney can be really tough, especially on significant days like birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, and Mother's Day. Running has always been my outlet when I feel overwhelmed. Training for this marathon helps me to channel my energy into something positive while supporting a cause that means so much to me.

I am self-funding this marathon, so 100% of your donations will go directly to The Irish Cancer Society. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your contributions.
