At our concerts, The ECFonics raise money for a good cause. At our summer concerts this year, we are raising money for ATD Fourth World.

ATD stands for All Together for Dignity. ATD Fourth World was created in 1957 in an emergency housing camp for 250 homeless families near Paris. Today ATD is an international NGO active in many countries (Belgium, Poland, USA, Haiti, Guatemala, Peru, Madagascar, Tanzania, etc).

The starting point is that poverty is a violation of human rights. ATD aims at a society where each person is respected. People in poverty have a unique knowledge and experience that can lower barriers separating people and communities. Most disadvantaged people can free themselves from dependence and indignity of poverty when their courage and capacity for action are recognised.

ATD works alongside and in collaboration with people in poverty. ATD projects are designed and planned together with people living in poverty. These projects also aim at increasing public awareness and civic engagement to promote policy changes.

Examples are: street libraries, festivals of learning, housing reallocation, popular universities, job creation, knowledge sharing.
