Help Alma, Agne and their Mother Rebuild Their Lives After a Devastating Fire

This New Year’s Day was meant to be a fresh start for Alma and Agne, two devoted sisters who decided to return to their homeland of Lithuania after spending some time in the UK. They arrived at their mother’s newly purchased home, ready to embrace new opportunities and settle into life back home. But what awaited them was a tragedy that turned their lives upside down.

That evening, shortly after going to sleep, disaster struck. Approximately 40 minutes after resting for the night, a fire broke out in the house. Agne, guided by her intuition, awoke to the signs of danger. Her quick thinking allowed both sisters to escape with only the clothes on their backs, their passports, and Agne’s mobile phone. By the time they made it outside, the house was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire brigade worked tirelessly through the night, but the damage was irreversible. The home, which was their mother’s cherished investment purchased with her pension savings, was completely destroyed. To make matters worse, the house was uninsured, leaving the family with no safety net to rebuild their lives.

Alma and Agne lost everything in the fire; their clothing, personal belongings, savings and even their sacred library of spiritual literature, which had been a cornerstone of their faith and devotion.

Despite the overwhelming loss, the sisters have shown incredible resilience and strength. They feel deeply grateful to be alive and are determined to rebuild their lives from the ashes.

For now, they are homeless, relying on the kindness of friends for shelter. Yet, instead of succumbing to despair, Alma and Agne are already taking steps to find work and create a stable future. Their humility and surrender to the situation, as members of the ISKCON movement, are truly inspiring.

They continue to draw strength from their faith and are focused on rebuilding not just their home, but their lives.
