Assisted Living Stroke Rehabilitation Facility
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Jenni and I never expected to be in a position in my 40’s trying to ensure my mom gets the best care possible.
In April 2023 my mom suffered a stroke. She was somewhat lucky as she did not suffer some of the most common stroke side effects like memory loss she is still pretty sharp :), or facial dropping but, unfortunately she did lose movement on the right side of her body, leaving her unable to move her right arm, sit up or walk.
After 2 months of intense rehab she had not recovered like we hoped and was forced to move to a patient pay assisted living, as she had ran out of Medicare days. The struggle is real, after several months of subsiding payment to help her in her recovery it has become overwhelming for us. We are planning to move her to a more intense rehab facility so she can get better overall care. Both my moms PT and OT agree that a move is in her best interest, they see improvement but, not nearly enough in just an assisted living. It is approaching 6 months after the stroke and the improvement should be more.
The move to the new facility will be extremely expensive, but we hope it is just for a few months. I never imagined caring for an ailing parent could be so overwhelming both emotionally and financially. I would do anything for my mom. She is the wonderful mom I could ask for.
Prior to her stroke she was the most independent 77 year old I knew she did everything for me and my family. She’s worked her whole life and never asked for anything, and was always the first one to help someone in need. Please consider a donation to help with the extreme cost of care for my mom…..
Much ❤️
