Our team is raising money to benefit Ethiopian Community Association of Greater Saint Louis to support their effort on aiding COVID-19 patients in Ethiopia, and any donation will help make an impact.

                                                        “ ለወገን ደራሽ ወገን ነው ”

              የሰውን ልጅ ሕይወት እንደ ቅጠል በማርገፍ ፣ የዕምነቱን ልምምድ ፣ የማህበራዊ ህይወት መስተጋብሮቹንና ኢኮኖሚውን ያዛባ ፣ የአኗናር ዘይቤውን ሳይቀር ያስቀየረው የኮቪድ ወረርሺኝ እነሆ አለማችንን ከተቆጣጠራት ወራቶች ተቆጠሩ። በዚህ አለማቀፋዊ የሰው ልጆች ጨለማ ዘመን ውስጥ በማለፍ ላይ የምትገኘው አንዷ የትውልድ ሀገራችን ኢትዮጵያ ነች። አብዛኛው ሕዝባችን የቀን ምግቡን ለማግኘት ማለዳ ተነስቶ በስራ ደፋ ቀና ማለት ያለበት፣ በድህነት ወለል ላይ የሚኖር ስለሆነ ማህበራዊ መራራቁም ሆነ ተራርቆ መኖሩን ለመተግበር አቅመ ቢስ ነው። “እዬዬም ሲደላ ነው” እንዲሉ ማስኩና ሳኒታይዘሩ ሳይቀር እንደ ቅንጦት የሚታይበት ሀገር ነች ኢትዮጵያችን።

            እኛ በሰለጠነው ሀገር ውስጥ ኗሪ በመሆናችን መንግስት በፋይናንስም በሕክምናም እያገዘን ከጭንቀት ነፃ አለመሆናችንን ስለምናውቀው ሀገር ቤት ያሉ ወገኖቻችን በምን አይነት ጭንቀትና መከራ ውስጥ እንደሚያልፉ መገመት ይጠበቅብናል። ሀገር በሰቆቃ ላይ ነች። እጅግ በጣም ከፍተኛ በሆነ ፍጥነት እየተዛመተ ያለውን የኮቪድ – 19ን ወረርሺኝን ለመከላከል የተደረገው ጥረት ቢደነቅም ለ110 ሚሊዮን ሕዝብ የተዘጋጀለት የሕክምና አገልግሎት አኳያ ሲመዘን ግን ብዙ እጅግ ብዙ መረባረብ የሚጠይቅ የገንዘብና የማተሪያል ማሰባሰብ ይቀረናል።

            ታላላቅ የሚባሉት ሀገሮችን የተገዳደረ ወረርሺኝ የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ለብቻው ይቋቋመዋል ማለት ለሰከንድ የሚታሰብ አይደለም። ስለዚህም “እንወዳታለን” የምንላትን ሀገራችንንና ፣ “ሕመሙ ሕመሜ ነው” የምንለውን ሕዝብ አለንልህ ልንለው የሚገባን ሰዓቱ ነገ ሳይሆን ዛሬ ነው። የኛ ሳንቲም የአንዲትን የብዙኃን እናት ሕይወት ያተርፋል ፤ ያንዲትን ጨቅላ ብላቴና ከሞት አፋፍ መልሶ ለቤተሰቧ ያበቃል፤ የኛ ዕርዳታ ነገ ሀገርን ሊመሩ የሚችሉ ወጣቶችን ሕይወት ይታደጋል፤ የኛ ዕገዛ ጉዳታቸው ወደ ፈጣሪያቸው ላስጮሃቸው ምስኪኖች የፀሎት ምላሽ ይሆናል። አገርም እንደ ሰው የምትኮራው በችግሯ ወቅት በሚዘረጉላት የልጆቿ ዕገዛዎች እንጂ በከንፈር መጠጣ በሚሰጥ ድጋፍና በጉንጭ አልፋ የፖለቲካ ጥብቅና የምንፈይደው አይኖርም።

             አገርንና ደካሞችን በመርዳት የሚገኘው የህሊና ዕርካታን ከሌላ ቦታ በገንዘብዎ ሊያገኙት ከቶ አይችሉም። ብድር መመለስ የማይችሉትን በመርዳት ውስጥ የአዕምሮ ሰላም አለ፣ ዕርካታ አለ፣ ደስታ አለ ፣ መልካም እንቅልፍ አለ። ይሄም በመስጠት ውስጥ የሚገኝ በረከት እንጂ በድረ ገፅ ሆነ ከገበያ አዳራሾች በሽመታ ከቶም የማይገኝ ፍፁማዊ ፍስኃ ነው።

            ስለዚህ እኛ የሴንት ሉዊስና አካባቢዋ ኗሪዎች ታሪክ ለመስራት እንደ አንድ ሰው ሆነን እንነሳ ዘንድ በጭንቅ ውስጥ ባለው ተረጂ ሕዝባችን ስም እንማፀናለን። ባሁን ሰዓት ስራ የሌለን ወይም የገቢያችን ሁኔታ የቀነሰ ቢሆንም እንኳን የወገኖቻችን ጭንቀት የበለጠ ገብቶን እጃችንን ይበልጥ እንድንዘረጋ ያደርገናል እንጂ ከመስጠት ሊያግደን አይቻለውም ወይንም አይተን እንዳላየ ልናልፍ አይገባም። ተነሱ ነፍስ እናድን! ተነሱ ዕንባ እናብስ! የሞትን ደመና ከኢትዮጵያችን ሰማይ ላይ እንግፈፍ!

The Ethiopian Community Association in St. Louis, USA is a 501 (c3) organization serving the Ethiopian diaspora community in St. Louis. COVID-19 pandemic in Ethiopia is becoming rampant amongst the local community including most of the rural inhabitants. Ethiopia is an underdeveloped country with a shortage of critical health services and food insufficiency. The majority of the people in Ethiopia depend on a day-to-day labor to win their daily breads without a spare of money left to spend on their health.

Under these circumstances fighting COVID-19 is an uphill battle both for the Government and the society of Ethiopia. The most important and seemingly easy things like masking, sanitation, and social distancing to avoid contracting COVID-19 virus in Ethiopia are practically unaffordable due to lack of financial support to the basic human needs. It is in this context of fight COVID-19 pandemic in Ethiopia our association has initiated a fund raising activity. While knowing the COVID-19 patients in Ethiopia are in a much dire need of sanitary, medical, food and PPEs we couldn’t just seat and see the exasperation except stepping up and soliciting donations from generous people like you.

Dear friends, the money we raise will be entirely spent for covering the cost of PPEs, masks, sanitary supplies, and medical needs of the corona virus patients in Ethiopia. So please donate generously. 

We hope we have made the importance of this fund raising very clear. Your donations are lifesaving in one of the world’s most needy society in this time of pandemic.  As Dali Lama said "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive".
