Support Ken and Virginia’s financial recovery after fire
Donation protected
On Saturday, April 5th there was a fire at Artisan Kitchens, the business of our father Ken Black. The building was nearly burned to the ground due to a fire that started in the wall. The roof has partially collapsed and what is left from the fire is smoke and water damaged. Very little of the tens of thousands of dollars in equipment, and building materials (including a fully completed kitchen that was ready to be installed) can be recovered and there was no insurance on the contents of the building.
The tools and equipment that have been lost were Ken’s retirement fund. He has worked extremely hard his entire life and was set to semi-retire in one month, so this loss is especially devastating. His wife Virginia had an art studio setup in the front of the building that has also been lost.
Donated funds will be used to help Ken purchase lost tools and equipment, as well as help with costs of daily living until he and Virginia get back on their feet. Ken needs to replace his equipment so that he can work to supplement their retirement income. He also plans to build them a modest retirement home to enable them to get into the housing market.
Ken is extremely generous, kind and hard working. He could really use our support right now!
