Assist Sara in Caring for Natalie and Baby KJ

My name is Katy and I’m here asking for much-needed support for my 16-year-old goddaughter, Natalie, and her family, including her newborn son.

Natalie was pregnant and at 38 weeks found out her baby was breech. The doctors thought it would be best to try to manually turn the baby and allow for the possibility of a natural birth. During that procedure, some issue took place that caused the doctors some concern and decided that while it wasn’t imperative to do a c-section right then, it was important to start the labor process. Natalie was induced and she labored for 18 hours with no progress. It was at that time that they decided a c-section was necessary. On February 25, 2025, baby KJ was here and Natalie didn’t care about anything that came before that moment! Unfortunately, when they were released from the hospital and the bandages were removed a week later (by doctor’s orders), something didn’t look right on her belly. We got her to the emergency room on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. After a few hours in the ER and a CAT scan, we were told that Natalie had a necrotizing infection, most likely due to bacteria that entered during her c-section. She was taken to Cleveland Clinic Main Campus and had her first life-saving surgery on Wednesday morning. The next day, she had a second surgery to make sure they removed all of the infected area. This left Natalie with a 9” x 2” gaping wound on her abdomen. She was in the hospital for 7 days. A wound vac has been put in place which allows the wound to remain open on her body but is covered and is constantly adding negative pressure to encourage the wound to come together and heal with the least possibility of reinfection.

Natalie is thankfully home from the hospital now but is not out of the woods. The current timeline for the wound vac is 3 months. Between the pain and directions from her doctors, she has major limitations that prevent her from caring for herself or her son. This means she’s relying 100% on Sara to take care of her and her newborn.

Unfortunately, with these recent life events, it’s put her and Sara in a position to need extra funds where there are none. Sara has been earning money through DoorDash and other delivery services, so as of now, she has nothing. She’s unable to work because she’s caring for Natalie and the baby around the clock. She can’t leave them.
