Helping My Sister Say Goodbye to Her Husband

My name is Rocky, and I’m starting this fundraiser for my sister, Paula Cloat.

Her husband, Phil, has been a colon cancer survivor since 2005, but tragically, the cancer has returned with a vengeance. Doctors have told us he may only have about 2 months left with us.

My sister and her husband are both disabled and living on a very limited income. They’ve been told that cremation will cost $3,500 — an amount far beyond their means — and she will also need to find a new place to live after he passes. Social services is helping her look for a low-income apartment, but even with assistance, rent will still be about $600 a month.

This is already a heartbreaking time for our family, and I want to do everything I can to take away at least some of the financial stress from my sister so she can focus on spending these final days with her husband. I live in Florida and I feel so limited as to what I can do for her from here. When the time comes, I will be there, but she is going to need help preparing.
