Assist Pastor Chuck's Family in Transition
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Scot Slater
This year on Father's Day, my dad, Pastor Chuck Slater passed away.
Before he went home to be with Jesus, he had my brother and me look him in the eye and make him a promise... "Take care of my girls." We made that promise.
His girls, as he calls them, are his wife Marilyn (my mom) and his sister Florence (my aunt who has lived with my parents since I was born in 1974).
With dad gone now, there are a lot of things that must be tended to and quite a bit of expense to be incurred in order to take proper care of dad's girls.
Funeral and memorial costs, the handling of accounts, finances, property, travel arrangements, medical costs, the handling of the sale of the family home, moving, storage, cleaning, and disposal costs as well as relocation for my mom and aunt from Yuma, Arizona to be closer to family.
My brother and I are obviously going to do everything we can to make sure mom and Florence are taken care of, but the expenses are a lot and we are asking for your help.
Our goal is to memorialize dad on September 10th at Real Life Church in Sacramento, and then hopefully by the end of the year, have everything else sorted out to get the estate handled and "the girls" relocated so they can be near my brother and me. With dad gone now, we are the family they have left. And again... we made a promise.
Anything you would like to contribute to the cause would be greatly appreciated, and will go a long way to making this unexpected and complicated (not to mention pricey) transition a whole lot easier.
From all my messages on Facebook, texts, voicemails, engagements on social media (and just about any means of communication you can think of), I have had a huge number of people asking how they can help during this difficult time. Our hope is that if you are one of those who would like to help, you would consider this GoFundMe as your outlet to be able to do just that.
We believe this kind of aid to my mom (and dad's sister) really embodies the spirit of James 1:27a "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..."
May you experience all of God's blessings as you prayerfully contemplate what kind of gift you might give joining the effort to help two sons to take care of dad's girls.
With many thanks,
Scoots & Roots
