my friend Fran has had a run of bad luck, health issues, home break ins and now her house has been gutted from fire.

any help to take some stress off her shoulders would be much appreciated.

11 months ago my beautiful Mama bought her first home. We were all so very proud of her. At 66 years young she had finally done it.

It was in rough shape but Mum saw the beauty hidden inside the little box shaped house, which we nicknamed Boxy Lady.

We all got to work, trying to bring Mum’s vision to life. It was hard work especially considering Mum and my hubby work roughy 50 hours a week each. But we were getting there slowly.

But 2024 seems to have our family in it’s crosshairs!

From the beginning of the year, our family has had nothing but health issues. Some of them have been pretty major so we haven’t been able to do as much to Boxy Lady as we would like to.

In July, Mum went to get some groceries and noticed a package on the front step. She stopped in to grab it on the way home (she’s been living with us while we renovated) and realised it was one of her gifts from a dear friend. Then she realised the front door was open. She’d been burgled. The low life scumbags had trashed the place and stolen so much, with the obvious intention of coming back for more.

They came back 5 times over the next week, trying to find another way in.

We ended up boarding the house up while Mum saved for a security system.

Then hubby’s lung collapsed. He ended up spending 6 weeks in hospital and needing 2 major surgeries. Mum would check in daily but renovating was the last thing on our minds…

Last night the worst happened. The gutter scum thieves broke in again, stole all of the white goods that they didn’t get last time and then set Boxy Lady on fire.

There is nothing left. Nothing. She has lost everything. Photos, school mementos, cook books that she had been collecting for years, clothing and shoes. Everything. Including all of the renovation materials and all of her cake decorating equipment for her business.

To say she is gutted is an understatement!
