Scott Kane has been part of the fabric of Aspen for over 30 years. Aspen residents and visitors alike have benefited from his professional ski instruction and his ability to lift skiers to their highest potential. Scott’s energy and humor have built friendships in the valley and around the globe. He is Dad to Sophie and Stewart, a partner to his love Maggie Mathisen, and dog dad to Max and Emma.
On January 13th, the legendary ski instructor had a terrifying and life-threatening crash near the base of Aspen Mountain. Thanks to quick-acting instructors, friends, ski patrol (and amazing protective gear), Scott survived and was transported to Aspen Valley Hospital with 8 broken ribs, a neck injury, multiple fractured vertebrae, and other injuries.
Scott Kane is as tough as they come, and one of the nicest guys in the valley. But now comes the fight – a long recovery, physical therapy to relearn proper movement and physical functions, a mountain of medical bills, and lost peak season income.
The financial support of his community will literally help Scott to get back on his feet.
Please consider donating so that Scott can put his energy into healing. We want him back on the slopes next season to share his gift and love of the mountains.
