Asking for support as I tend to my ailing mom
Donation protected
It is with great humility that I share this with you - and ask for your support.
I have lived in the US for 30 years now. I moved here, having been guided so strongly to come to the US. 7 weeks after my arrival, I met my husband Jim and began to create my life and path here. The rest, as they say, is history. Over the years, I have visited my family every year, and since my dad passed 12 years ago I have become closer to my mom.
She is almost 84 years old and this past year her health and circumstances have changed. I just returned from Paris to be with her for three weeks. I brought her to the hospital 3 hours after I arrived and she was there when I left, still dealing with a very dangerous infection that touched her heart valve. That and a severe anemia that doesn't seem to get under control have affected her greatly. I am so grateful the doctors got this infection on time before serious sepsis could set in. We are now awaiting her transfer to a convalescent center where she will hopefully regain enough strength to be independent.
Given all this, I need to return in March, for at least three more weeks to help her with many things. We need to empty her current apartment where she has lived for 40 years and move her to a new senior facility. This is a huge change for her and requires a lot of support physically, but also emotionally. I need to be there for her during this important life transition.
All of this means that I’ll have no income for at least 6 weeks (no clients or ability to put attention towards my other jobs). Also, as it is spring break and Easter time, airline tickets are very expensive. My funds are limited, but I do need to go. This is why I am launching this GoFundMe. Any amount, large or small, will help me greatly.
I am so grateful to every one of you for your support, whether financial or otherwise.
With deep gratitude. Christel
