One of our island friends could use our help. Ashton Boyer suffered a very bad fall off a ladder. He has severe injuries to his leg and ankle. They are hoping they can save his foot. He is facing surgeries and rehab which will keep him out of work for up to 6 months. Most of you know Ashton and his family. He grew up on the island. He currently owns and operates a landscaping business on the island. When Irma hit, Ashton was one of the first to start cleaning up and hauling off debris. When we did the island cleanup last fall, Ashton noticed and volunteered to load his truck and trailer with much of the trimmings. Ray Smith scheduled a cleanup and tree trimming at the ferry landing needed so the ferry captains could see better. Ashton heard about it and had it done ahead of time. When Bocilla Islands Conservancy cleaned up the two lots they purchased on Palm Drive there was a huge pile of tree limbs and palms. Ashton got a mulcher, ground it up, and hauled it off. All of these events Ashton just jumped in and helped. He never asked for any payment even though his business is landscaping. He did not ask for this Go Fund Me account. He is the type of person that gives and gives but does not ask for help but now he needs some. He has a family to support and without being able to work and facing huge medical expenses we are asking our island community to do what they can to help him. Thank you.
