Please Help Ashly Stay in the U.S. and Reunite with her Daughter!
Ashly is a loving mother, a hardworking woman, and a true story of redemption.
A U.S. green card holder from El Salvador, Ashly has lived in America since 2010, shortly after her 12th Birthday. Like many, she faced struggles in her past - but last fall, she made the courageous decision to turn her life around by entering sober living. She entered Homes of Promise in Pomona, CA, where I have managed the women’s home for over 4 years. She surrendered her past, embraced faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and began rebuilding - not just for herself, but for her beautiful young daughter.
In April, Ashly was snatched up from the sober living by ICE, and within less than 24 hours was removed from contact with family or friends and transported from California to Eloy Detention Center in Eloy, Arizona, where she has been detained ever since. Her detainment has not only interrupted all of her hard work that she has been doing in the home toward becoming independent and creating a positive productive life for herself, but also separated her from her daughter - the very person she's fighting hardest for.
Ashly has come so far, and deserves a second chance to prove that change is real and lasting. Her dream is to continue rebuilding a stable, sober life here in the country she loves and calls home.
Ashly has spoken with two immigration attorneys, and both agree that she has an excellent case, but we need assistance in order to continue to retain them to represent her through this process. She cannot do it alone - she needs a community behind her. It takes a village!
The reason this is so incredibly important to me is that Ashly is a very unique and special person and she is like a daughter to me. Not many women come into the house with the desire to fight for their freedom, fight for change in their life, fight to be a new person, walking in the footsteps of her Lord and Savior, fight for her daughter, and promise never to make the mistakes again that separated her from her daughter, and now threatens her citizenship here in the United States. A lot of people say it, but Ashly MEANS it! From her dress, to the way she talks, to her attitude and approach toward others. She has gone back to school. She is on the cusp of getting her daughter back. She is an amazing parent. She works so hard to represent the kind of person that is trustworthy and safe and she is proud to be called an American. She LOVES this country.
If you believe in second chances, as I do, in mothers fighting for their children, and in the power of transformation -- please consider donating. No amount is too small. And if you can't donate, please share with as many friends and family members as you possibly can. Ashly is very special. Please share.
Let's help Ashly come home to her daughter.
Thank you and God bless you.
