ArtSmart Summer Camp began in 2013 when Luther Place responded to the need for a low/no-cost summer camp for families in downtown Washington, DC. 2026 marks 13 years (including virtual camp during the global pandemic!) welcoming 40 students to a month of adventure! Students explore art, music, movement, local museums and parks, and receive reading and math tutoring. Each day students, volunteers and staff enjoy home-cooked, culturally-appropriate breakfast, snack and lunch. Luther Place and ArtSmart Summer Camp provide a stable, supportive community for our Ward 2 families - a vital respite for children in our busy city.
