Arthur’s fundraising for school volunteering in Zambia

Since starting at Esher High School, Arthur has been determined to participate in the school’s life changing trip to Zambia, at the end of year 10. (July 2024)

Esher High has fostered a bridge of knowledge and sport between the UK and Zambia, sending groups of dedicated students to teach Tag rugby to local children. This initiative is more than just a trip: it’s a chance to touch, lives, teach, learn, and grow.

Over the last fifteen years Esher High School have supported

community schools in Zambia. The support has ranged from providing

paint and labour to decorate classrooms, to laptops for teachers and for

class use. They have now started to support projects in Zimbabwe.

They have shipped out textbooks and groups have taken out clothes,

sports clothing, shoes and football boots, school uniforms, Tag Rugby

kits, pens, pencils, rulers, maths kits. In 2024 they will be working with 30

schools: they all need these donations as they do not receive any

Government support.

Even though the sport side of this may not come easily to Arthur, he is up for the challenge and his skills in communication, team building, leadership and his willingness to learn will create a once in a lifetime experience.

Arthur now needs to do some crucial fundraising for the School, and his own financial contribution towards the cost of the trip.

He has taken up weekend paper rounds, baby sitting and car washing. Every penny he’s earning, he’s putting towards his Zambia fundraising.

One big part of the fundraising via the schools is a 300km run through the night!

All the students taking part in the trip are running, and need to raise money for this sponsored run.

The run is this Friday 19th April!

The money from the run will specifically go towards construction, textbooks, computers, stationery, clothing, and supply water for school, and local community groups.
