The Art-athon 7: Painting to fight hunger in my community
7 Days = 7 Paintings
This is a message from my daughter!
Hi, I’m Fleur and I’m 11. I love to paint, and this half term I’ve set myself a challenge: to make 7 paintings in 7 days. One each day, to help people in my community who need a bit of extra help.
I was inspired by a YouTuber I like called Half-Asleep Chris. He does creative challenges to raise money for good causes. I wanted to try something like that too, but for people in my city.
I’ve been going to Lily’s Social Kitchen since I was little, they run something called the Pay it Forward scheme. This is where customers can add an additional amount to their bill, and that helps pay for cooking sessions with school children to make meals for people who don’t have a home. It also helps cover the cost for homeless people to come to the cafe and get a hot drink or meal.
I love food!!! Especially sushi, paella, pasta, broccoli and green beans! I can’t imagine not having enough to eat, and I really want to help people who might feel like that sometimes. So I’m combining two things I love - painting and food, to try and make a difference.
If you can, please support my Art-athon 7 challenge. Every little bit helps.
Your donation will help fund:
-Ingredients for community cooking sessions.
-Equipment and kitchen supplies.
-Help and support from local chefs and volunteers.
-A safe, friendly space for the sessions.
I’m not trying to raise loads, just enough to show that small actions really can help. Thank you for reading, and for being part of this with me.
