Art Therapy For All

Donation protected
We want to raise £20,000 to continue providing Art Therapy services in local communities.

This money will allow us to provide free/ subsidised access to much needed mental health services, for people on low incomes. Lack of disposable income is one of the main barriers that prevents people battling with mental health issues from accessing alternative forms of therapy.

It will also allow us to continue to produce and provide valuable Art Therapy resources, like our Art Therapy Journal and our Art Therapy Oracle Deck, to those in need for free.

This campaign is important because over the past two years there has been a huge increase in numbers of mental health cases being reported. Trying to survive through a pandemic, losing loved ones, a huge number of job losses and an overall uncertainty in the economy, has been very hard to come to terms with for many of us.

'Mental Health' has always had a stigma of shame attached to it. Art Therapy is an alternative form of therapy that allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings, without having to face the difficulty of putting them into words. It is also a fantastic tool that can be used to creatively express yourself without fear of restriction or judgement....
And let's be honest, we could all do with a little freedom like that... Safely of course!

Your generous gift will affect many lives and literally contribute to a more positive future for us all.

We have recently been providing Art Therapy workshops with young people aged 16 - 22. These workshops were requested due to an increased concern from parents, schools and colleges about the mental health of young people in this age bracket.
These concerns have especially been strengthened because at the age of 18 a young person is classed as an adult and referred to adult mental health services. Many young adults are left in limbo during this transition period, where they are vulnerable to 'falling through the gap' and not receiving access to support/ treatment needed.

*Tiffany (name changed for data protection) is a 19 year old who has been accessing our individual Art Therapy sessions. She was referred to CAHMS for depression and low mood at the age of 15, then transferred to adult mental health services when she became 18.

Tiffany struggled to engage with adult mental health services, often feeling unseen and unheard. This resulted in her not engaging with services and understandably this affected her mental health in a negative way.

Tiffany's attendance at college was affected because she had no motivation to go to classes and she was at risk of being removed from her course of study.

Since attending our individual Art Therapy sessions for the past year, Tiffany has managed to improve her attendance at college.

"Doing Art Therapy gives me something to look forward to, because even though I don't always say much in the sessions, being in the room with my Therapist makes me feel seen and safe... Its weird but that's the only way I can describe it! I also like Art Therapy because its something that I can do when I'm at home too. I was given an Art Therapy Journal and I have been using everyday! I like it because it makes me think about my feelings instead of bottling everything up. I don't usually like talking about them, especially to strangers... But the journal has made this easier" - Tiffany, 19.

We are currently providing these services on a voluntary basis for free. Your gift will allow us to increase how many more lives like Tiffany's we can support. An average Art Therapy session usually costs £40 or more... While £20,000 sounds like a lot of money, the services and resources this campaign will fund will be invaluable for generations to come!
