ART FOR HEART by Aurora Dawna

Every child we meet at BC Children’s Hospital receives a special gift from my sweet little daughter Aurora. We now call it Art for Heart — a project started by Aurora who was born with a cleft palate.

We’ve spent countless days and nights at BC Children’s since she was born, and we know firsthand how hard those hospital visits can be. Instead of letting them bring us down, we decided to flip the script. Each visit, we dress up in gowns, bring a wagon full of toys and handmade art, and turn it into a celebration of giving.

✨ This month, Aurora is heading in for her six-year-old team check — where she’ll meet with seven practitioners and undergo a procedure that isn’t much fun. To honour her courage and her creativity, we’re raising $1500 in 10 days to:

For the last couple of years, I’ve simply purchased art supplies and gifts from the dollar store with her. For this time, being so close to Halloween and Christmas, we are hoping to buy some nice dolls and toys for the kids who won’t be going trick or treating. Life is so tough when you are going through all that goes on down at BC Children’s Hospital. So if you would like to support our efforts, I promise you that we will together be sharing so much love and joy with the kids. There is nothing like giving a child a gift that was unexpected just because. They all deserve that smile.
