Gina is a union Delegate who is always there for others, and it is our turn to be there for her. On the morning of Wednesday 26 March whilst at work, Gina's ex partner who she had recently separated from set fire to their home, destroying her and her daughter's property, killed their beloved pet, stole a vehicle, drove to find her, assaulted a friend and proceeded to her workplace, crashing it through the building, endangering her colleagues, before physically attacking and injuring her with a weapon.

Right now, we want to wrap our arms around Gina and take away the financial pressures of replacing items lost and getting all the support she needs. Whilst some financial assistance will be available it will take time to access and won't undo what has happened.

The ASU has zero tolerance for violence against women in all forms. We believe victim-survivors and those at risk of perpetrating violence should be able to access early help, prevention and response services when they need it.

Events such as this remind us, we have so much more work to do together.
