Arjun Mandadi Eagle Scout Project Tiny Home Build
Donation protected
Arjun Mandadi, in partnership with Sound Foundation North West Sound Foundations NW is raising funds to build a tiny home for his Eagle Scout project.
King County has the third-largest homeless population in the United States according to The Seattle Times, with an estimate of over 13 thousand homeless people. As a young community leader, Arjun has hope and is committed to making a difference. By building one tiny home, we can provide shelter, safety, and a sense of stability to the people that will come and go through this temporary shelter. Tiny homes work. In fact, a recent 2022 study shows that, “close to 50% of people who exited a tiny house moved into permanent housing.”
Arjun's Eagle Scout project will take place over 2 weekends in June and consist of volunteer efforts of youth and adults. Sound Foundation North West is providing their resources, tools, and factory to make this project possible. An Asssembly Line (click to see video) powered by volunteers, hammers, and other tools, will take lumber to complete 4 walls and a base. After tilting the walls up and securing them to the base, the roof will be assembled. Then comes the finishing process where insulation, flooring, and other minor details will complete the tiny home.
“It is easy for the stats to easily distract us and associate homeless people with a number” says Arjun Mandadi. “Instead we must understand that over 13,000 people do not have a place to call home. That is more than 1-3-0-0-0 individuals who may be roaming the streets looking for basic needs that many of us take for granted”.
Arjun realizes that not everyone has the time to help but are willing to donate money. He is hoping to raise $5000 dollars. It costs roughly $4300 to build one tiny home for all the materials supplied and about $700 to supply food, water, and safety gear for those that are volunteering their time to support his project.
Please donate so this Eagle Project will benefit seveal homelss in Seattle get that foundation they need one Tiny home at a time. Donations will be accepted until September 1, 2023.
Thank you for you generosity.
